Vancouver Island Branch

The monthly BCASW VI Branch meetings have been changed to the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30pm at The Pantry on Douglas St.  All members are welcome to attend the branch meetings.

At the BCASW Annual General Meeting held October 26, 2007 in Vancouver, a resolution regarding homelessness was put forward by David Turner. The resolution was accepted and BCASW is now working on this resolution. David Turner has suggested that each BCASW branch form an alliance with a local anti-homeless poverty group and discuss a joint media/lobby campaign to keep this issue high on political and public agenda.
The BCASW board has requested that branches identify local initiatives and projects in which members are already active.
We have emailed VI branch members to request that VI BCASW members share with the BCASW board their involvement regarding homelessness issues. The information received (replies to this email) will be gathered and summarized for the next BCASW board meeting in January’08.
Thank you,
Vancouver Island BCASW Executive
