SPECIAL NOTICE:

Over the past year, the FRB Meetings have included special Guest Speakers presenting on a variety of interesting topics, initiatives, and important issues that we face as Social Workers in our respective fields.  We wish to continue this trend as our members have found it to be a vaulable, interactive, and worthwhile experience.  Recent FRB presentations have included:

Bill Anderson  presenting on Compassion Fatigue
Shannon Torhjelm presenting on Ameliating Moral Distress on Health Care Teams
Carol Peters presenting on Aborigional Journeys in Mental Health: Surviving the Fall
Dr. Pieter Steyn presenting on Working with Bay Boomers

BCASW is continuing to look for guest speakers to present at our monthly FRB Branch Meetings over the next coming year.  If you or anyone you know would be interested in presenting at one of our monthly meetings on a particular topic or current Social Work issue, please email jeffdwood@gmail.com  This opportunity is open to both members and non-members.

We attempt to offer a balance of business, guest speakers, and activities that promote the profession and role of social work as well as raise awareness and practically respond to issues that concern our clients. Our close association with the University of the Fraser Valley also provides opportunities to link social work education with practice. We invite our membership and encourage other interested social workers to participate in the mentorship, support and opportunities that only membership in your professional association offers. Please don't hesitate to contact us.
